The view from a room at the Emerald Hill Villa, Marigot Bay, Castries, Saint Lucia.

“This photo may look like a painting or a photoshop masterpiece, but we assure you, this is straight from the camera. The Emerald Hill Villa has a perfect vantage point on the cliffside corner of Marigot Bay and the Caribbean Sea. So in other words, it is the front row seat to watching the many ships pass by off the coast, or enter and leave the bay. This photo was taken from the living area, with just the edge of the cliff-hanging pool visible along the bottom.”

”Marigot Bay is a quiet bay. The Great House was one of the first homes/villas to be built there, so had choice location. If you look across the bay at the palm covered sand spit, this is what pirate ships used to hide behind when escaping the British patrols off in the sea.”

“This is the view from the master bedroom balcony – quite a nice setting to wake up to. The villa is located in what is called Rabot Estate, which has many cocoa plantations but was originally the battlefield for the British and an uprising of African slaves in 1795.”

“Each room would open up to a breathtaking view – while more expensive places had nothing. Each balcony was a dreamy opening to a fantastic site as clouds would pass through the Pitons.”

“Taken from our room on our honeymoon. Ladera is unique in that all of its rooms only have 3 walls. The open wall provides spectacular views of the Pitons, one of which you can see silhouetted behind the tree in this photo. The pool was our own private pool. It was spectacular! “

“I visited St. Lucia in 2001 and stayed here a couple of nights at the end. I can’t even find the room in their info and it’s a lot more expensive now, so they may have done away with this room- which was small and fabulous!!”
