“Take a water taxi to the lake head of Lake Rotoroa for a peaceful night in the D’Urville Hut. Owned and operated by DOC (NZ department of conservation) the hut is situated right on the waters edge with the window overlooking the lake and the ranges of Nelson Lakes National Park on the other side.
Basic accommodation of bunk beds with mattress. Running water available and a fire place for heating. Travelers need to bring everything else with them including bedding and cooking equipment. Pre-purchase ticket before travelling.
A surreal place to spend a night or two.”
