Rooms With Great Views

“The most beautiful view from our Balcony at Dusk…WOWWWW !!!! When we first started planning our trip to Lago di Como I saw a picture similar to this one and thought how great it would be to be up in the mountains at dust and get this shot. After weeks of researching where we were going to stay i fell upon a discription of the Eremo Gaudio hotel and how magnificent the views were in the upper buildings and how unusual the process to get to them are. As we considered it, I grew a bit concerned about the uphill walk to get there and the distance from town as we aren’t in very good shape. NO problem as it turned out, just a little exercise to get there, just take your time, watch out for cars (even though it looks like a side walk…its actually a real road) and enjoy the views.
When we booked I requested the upper buildings. As we were shown to our room I was disappointed to learn that we would be in the Bellagio room on the 3rd floor and not in the upper-upper building on the 6th floor …the highest. Then we got to our room…..WOW… it has the most magnificent unobstructed view of any of the rooms in the hotel because it is right below the arch on the patio which becomes the roof of the lower-upper building. This is the view from our rooms balcony looking north….The room has about 250degrees of unobstructed viewing looking strait across to Villa Balbainello way in the distance and the flank of Bellagio much closer in. It was spectacular… I sat on the balcony for hours taking this shot in every available light…this was my favorite.
I won’t ruin the surprise of how you get to the upper buildings…it was a first for us. The room was very reasonable and cheaper than most….one of the best bargins we had on the vacation.”

“Lake Como in northern Italy is fabulous.  Our hotel, Albergo Milano,  in Varenna was warm and charming, and recommended by Rick Steves.  This was in 2001.  Ask for a “frontal” lake room.  They serve meals on a large terrace just below the balcony.  You can take hydrofoil boats that go from town to town on the lake, getting on and off wherever you want.   Great place. ”
